Eight years have passed since Batman disappeared into the night, transforming from a hero into a fugitive. He took the blame for D.A. Harvey Dent’s death, sacrificing everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon believed was the greater good.

For a while, the deception succeeded, as crime in Gotham City was suppressed by the anti-crime Dent Act. However, everything changes with the arrival of a clever cat burglar with a hidden agenda. More threatening is the rise of Bane, a masked terrorist with ruthless plans for Gotham that force Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. Even if he puts on the cape and cowl again, Batman might not be able to defeat Bane.
